Judy Belushi (John’s ex wife) and Dan Aykroyd currently hold the TV rights and are aiming to pitch a new iteration to the studios and networks. A script has been written by Belushi and Anne Beatts (former SNL writer), that would have Jake an Elwood out of jail looking for the latter’s real dad.
Aykroyd would appear as a voice in the series but not on camera, the lead roles would of course be recast. Beats describes the show as “‘Route 66’ meets ‘Glee,’ and it all goes to hell in a handbasket.”
Why don't you like Gabourey Sidibe's character on the Big C?
The character itself is fine and often gets some good quips, but the way they work her into the show is superfluous and unbelievable. On top of that Sidibe often has a hard time delivering her lines with conviction.
Hollywood Movie Money is the company responsible for those promotional vouchers you often find in DVD releases that allow free or discounted entry to upcoming films. Their partnership with Movie Pass would enable to the subscriber print out a voucher for the movie they want to see at home and then bring that to the theater for their ticket.
Because Hollywood Movie Money has a pre-established relationship with the exhibitors, Movie Pass is not worried about being shut down by the theater chains again. Of course the theater chains don’t see it that way and are promising to fight anyone that tries to set their prices for them.
you’d like to try out the service for yourself, head over to MoviePass.com to request an invitation. MoviePass will be available nationwide in its initial beta launch, but only via invite. Charter subscribers will then be able to bring others in to try the service. Though no prices have been listed as of yet, BusinessWire reports that the company will be testing a zone pricing model, in which fees will vary depending on the average ticket price in a subscriber’s area. A mobile version of the service is scheduled for release in early 2012.
Side note: Hollywood Movie Money is the worst name for a company or service I’ve ever heard. It sounds like a malware laden, spam site.
