Fun fact: Moira Walley-Beckett, who won an Emmy tonight for her strong Breaking Bad script “Ozymandias” (OH MY GOD), gets to join a pretty unique class of ladies tonight. There have been two others before her, Patricia Green & Ann Biderman, who can say that they alone as women won an Emmy. In 66 years, three women have women this drama writing award by themselves.
(I wanted to watch these episodes of NYPD Blue and Cagney & Lacey immediately. But I can’t. The world is upside down. Distribution deals, *epic hand shaaaaaaake* This is another post.)
On the other hand, we need to make this better. Women TV writers need to not just be the fourth name of five on a script. This kind of thing shouldn’t happen once a decade (or worse - this year, the first time since 1994!). My gosh. Tina Fey won’t live forever, nor should she.
