Trailer: Pitch Perfect - Oct 5

Directed by Jason Moore, starring Anna Kendrick, Anna Camp, Brittany Snow, Rebel Wilson, Christopher Mintz Plasse, and Adam DeVine.

As a former acappella singer and reader of the book on which this is based, I’m at a disadvantage going into this trailer. Immediately picking out the flaws and exaggerations is going to come naturally for me in this case, but I was also taken aback by how similar this seemed to ‘Step Up.’ (Which isn’t a compliment.) That said, I’m excited to see the art form go mainstream and the spot hints at a funny script (from ‘30 Rock’s Kay Cannon). If only they didn’t drop “regionals” and suddenly incite ‘Glee’ comparisons. Maybe I should have seen the ‘Step Up’, ‘Stomp the Yard’, ‘You Got Served’, ‘Bring It On’ and ‘Drumline’ similarities coming.
