First Look: ‘Evil Dead’ Remake | Comic Book Movie
Besides this still Bruce Campbell, Jane Levy and the film’s director Fede Alvarez debuted a teaser trailer for the film. It showed the familiar scenario of teens going off to a cabin in the woods and reading from a cursed book, but its striking naturalistic visuals, that can be described as almost Fincher-esque, were gripping and graphic. Levy isn’t prevalent in the trailer, giving way to more pure visuals, including — SPOILER ALERT — a potentially possessed hand, tree vines grabbing hold and wrapping up a character and a person cutting their tongue in half lengthwise with a knife. The last of which was a truly “holy shit” moment and frighteningly unique and unsettling.
Elsewhere in the panel Campbell hammed it up playing equal love and hate with the fans. He stressed that it was time for a change and something fresh but that this will have the trademarks fans are looking for. He also said that after opening weekend he wants apologies from all the people who will be wrong about doubting the remake.
Other notes:
Levy’s character name is Mia. All of the main character names spell something out.
Diablo Cody was brought on to doctor the script and add authentic sounding youth dialogue, because as Campbell said, “Middle aged men don’t know how young people talk.”
