Trailer: Battleship - May 18th

Directed by Peter Berg. Starring Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgard, Liam Neeson, Brooklyn Decker, Rihanna, Josh Pence, Jesse Plemons and Peter MacNicol.

A.k.a Sailors and Aliens, Battleship appears to be a remarkably faithful adaptation of the board game. Right down to the pegs. I’m still not on board for the extraterrestrial villain but at least the special effects look good. Liam Neeson’s over expository dialogue in the beginning is painful and none of the actors are particularly exciting, except maybe Alexander Skarsgard who utters barely a line. And Rihanna is no where to be found. The action sequence looks like a cut scene from Transformers, especially considering the Michael Bay-ness of it all and his penchant for military porn. Does the world really need a Transformers lookalike?
