Akiva Schaffer — the Lonely Island guy that isn’t Jorma Taccone or Andy Samberg — was offered a directing job on Neighborhood Watch, a new comedy about a bunch of guys who use their town’s neighborhood watch as a front for cheeky male-bonding exercises. The only trouble? They uncover a plot to destroy the world. Ben Stiller has been offered the lead in Watch. The movie recently received a rewrite from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, which means it will likely involve a ragtag bunch of nerdy guys with curly hair who actually get the girl. The Tropic Thunder gang is reuniting, this time on television. HBO has greenlighted Documental, a half-hour comedy pilot written and to be directed by Thunder co-writer/executive producer Justin Theroux. Theroux will star in the project with Thunder co-star, British comedian/writer/producer Steve Coogan. The pilot, which will film in London, stars Theroux as a documentary filmmaker who tracks down his idol, an equally inept filmmaker (Coogan), and documents his return to his craft.
