Behind the scenes photos of @JerrySeinfeld and @ChrisRock shooting Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee in my hometown, Allendale, NJ! Check out Allendale Eats, owned by my high school classmate, on Facebook!

The sad thing, with all this taping and stuff, no one’s going to do stand-up. And every big stand-up I talk to says: “How do I work out new material? Where can you go, if I have a half an idea and then it’s on the Internet next week?” Just look at some of my material. You can’t imagine how rough it was and how unfunny and how sexist or racist it might have seemed. “N*ggas vs. Black People” probably took me six months to get that thing right. You know how racist that thing was a week in?

I love animation because in the world of animation, you can be anything you wanna be. If you’re a fat woman, you can play a skinny princess. If you’re a short, wimpy guy, you can play a tall gladiator. If you’re a white man, you can play an Arabian prince. And if you’re a black man, you can play a donkey or a zebra.

“Rock is the first choice to host this year’s telecast on June 12, say sources at the American Theater Wing, a co-producer of the telecast. He hasn’t been officially asked yet, but an offer is being put together this week.”

Michael Riedel reckons that Rock would “the sharp wit of an outsider bemused by the insular world of Broadway and its traditions” to the telecast and would be “terrific”.

I don’t know what I think about this. While I am a huge fan of Chris Rock and it would be fun to see him in the context of the Tony Awards, I rather enjoy the song-and-dance people they’ve had on over the last several years - Sean Hayes, Neil Patrick Harris, Hugh Jackman. I thought all of them did a fabulous job and it’s kind of a nice model they’ve got going on at the moment. I’m not sure how bringing on a stand-up like Chris Rock would affect the show.

I’d be into Bette Midler (currently represented on Broadway as a producer of Priscilla Queen of the Desert) but that’s probably a little more old school than what the Tony committee is looking for.
