Though they have a Horrible Bosses sequel and Burt Wonderstone script in development, John Francis Daley (from Bones & Freaks and Geeks) and Jonathan Goldstein will direct the new Vacation based on the scrip they wrote.

Who would you most like to see?

Superman producers Chris Nolan and Emma Thomas are getting serious about resuscitating the Man of Steel. I’m told they have begun meeting with a short list of directors for the job of directing Superman, the picture which will be financed by Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures. On the list: Unstoppable’s Tony Scott, Let Me In director Matt Reeves,Battle: Los Angeles helmer Jonathan Liebesman (who just got the Warner Bros/Legendary job of directing Clash of the Titans 2), Duncan Jones, who just directed Source Code, and Sucker Punch helmer Zack Snyder.

The Oscar-winning director of Slumdog Millionaire Danny Boyle, and Billy Elliot director Stephen Daldry, have been tapped as creative bosses of the London 2012 Olympics. Stephen Daldry will be in overall creative charge of the Olympics and Paralympics, while Danny Boyle will be artistic director of the main opening ceremony. Boyle, whose new version of Frankenstein opens at the National Theatre later this year, said that he wanted to create a “thrilling, enthralling and captivating evening”. Orson Welles once described moviemaking as the greatest train set a boy ever had. The Olympics seem even more so.

When it comes to the big blockbusters Hollywood is hiring the young blood.

My second piece for Zoom In.

Went to a Hollywood Reporter Director’s breakfast with Jackson, Quentin, Cameron, Bigelow, and Daniels this morning. What a blast.
Jason Reitman. To be a fly on the wall in that group. Jeez.
