The Mouse House has bought the licensing rights from Fox and plans to build out an attraction for their parks. An official announcement is expected shortly.

The “Avatar” experience – plans call for more than a single ride – will be built at Animal Kingdom, the newest of the four major theme parks that make up Disney World in Orlando, Fla., according to these people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because Disney did not authorize them to speak publicly.

James Cameron, the director of that science-fiction film, will collaborate with Disney on the attraction.

To this day, Disney’s Doug Live, at what was formerly the MGM Studios park, was one of the most bizarre things I have ever seen.
Yes, that guy is painted blue.
…Then again maybe it’s no less bizarre than You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown?

Disney World is getting another major theme destination: Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, the Walt Disney Co. announced on Wednesday.
The Florida resort will feature quality family suites designed around the characters and themes of “The Lion King,” “Finding Nemo,” “Cars” and “The Little Mermaid.”
Tom Staggs, chairman of Disney’s Parks and Resorts said the project “underscores our optimism about the future, as we continue to invest in new experiences for our guests.”
