Trailer: The Big Year - Oct 14
Directed by David Frankel. Starring Steve Martin, Jack Black, Owen Wilson, and Rashida Jones.
It’s funny that the trailer misidentifies at first and then rattles off a list of “crises” the male leads are going through because in fact, this trailer is having an identity crisis of its own. Not sure whether it’s a broad comedy or a feel good, self discovery movie, we’re left with something agreeable but not overly intriguing. That and it looks like the man equivalent of Eat, Pray, Love.

Great layout, composition, and coloring.
You know what was really refreshing about tonight’s Idol finale? No dumb comedy sketches. Having Jack Black do this instead of some bit (Mike Meyers Love Guru anyone?) has a real clutch by the producers. Seriously, as far as content goes this might have been the best Idol finale ever. It was packed to the wall with performances.
Even though Jack Black stole the show, take a look at the winner after the jump.

"We’re gonna be talking about love, there are gonna be some songs about sex and there’s gonna be songs about food," Black told Spinner.
He warned not to look for the set until later on this year, but at least they’ve spent some time thoughtfully gestating. “We’re in the middle of recording it. We’re about halfway through the writing process. We need another few months,” he said.
"[The new album] is strictly a musical endeavor, but I would not rule out another film. Although it would probably be on the lower-budge."
So you’ve seen Jack Black and Jason Segel do it, you’ve seen Will Ferrel and John C Reilly do it, but have you seen Jack Black and Jimmy Fallon do it with crazy Blue Man Group style drums, paint and light?
Bowie and Bing Crosby eat your heart out.
With the fourth season of Mad Men all wrapped up, creator Matthew Weiner is getting back to work on directing his first feature film, You Are Here. Last year, before production on the film went on hold, Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, and Jennifer Aniston were attached to star. Now Jack Black, Matt Dillon, and Renee Zellwegger will take their places, in a movie that does not sound at all like Mad Men! The film is about two thirtysomething roommates — one a slutty weatherman, the other a slacker pothead — forced to grow up when the slacker’s father dies, leaving him “a general store, a country home and millions of dollars worth of Amish farmland,” and both roommates fall for the father’s much younger widow. Black will take the stoner part, Zellweger will play his older sister, and an offer is out to Rachel McAdams to play the widow. Since it’s Weiner, obviously, we’re intrigued — just so long as this movie doesn’t mean we have to wait two years for season five. [Pajiba]
