Both Leno and Conan used “With,” while Carson’s name followed “Starring.”

Plans for a massive $25 million studio have been halted. Fallon’s current home, Studio 6B, will get a $5 million makeover instead.

Get Hoodie Allen on Jimmy Fallon!

Hoodie’s personal plea to make his TV debut on ‘Late Night.’ This is a signal boost because he very much deserves it and more people deserve to hear his music.

Hell to the yes.

In an interview with Fuse (via NahRight), Roots drummer/leader ?uestlove first skirts around the topic, explaining that: “‘The Tonight Show’ is coming to us; we’re not going to ‘The Tonight Show’… it’s going to be the same show. But that’s a year from now,” before admitting that: “Yeah, we’re staying [with Jimmy].”

This makes it seem like the entire staff will remain intact as well. Which would also be great news.

Conan breaks silence on Jimmy Fallon replacing Jay Leno | EW
Folks, I got to be honest with you, I had a really awkward day today,” Leno said. “I had to call David Letterman and tell him he didn’t get The Tonight Show again. Awful! Terrible! … I want to congratulate our good friend Jimmy Fallon. He is a hell of a guy! He’s going to do a great job. I just have one request for Jimmy: We’ve all fought, kicked, and scratched to get this network up to fifth place, now we have to keep it there! Jimmy, don’t let it slip into sixth. We are counting on you!
Jay Leno’s monologue: ‘Jimmy, don’t let it slip into sixth’ | EW
I want to thank everyone here at Late Night, the staff, the crew, and of course The Roots. I have to say thanks to Jay Leno for being so gracious. It means so much to me to have his support … This is Late Night with Jimmy Fallon…For now. You guys probably heard the news – I’m going to be taking over The Tonight Show next February! But don’t worry. Until February, our focus is right here on whatever this show is called.

The change will occur after the 2014 Winter Olympics and the show will move to New York. Lorne Michaels is also taking over as EP.

But Mr. Leno said in an interview: “The main difference between this and the other time is I’m part of the process. The last time the decision was made without me. I came into work one day and — you’re out.” He added that this time around, “There really aren’t any complications like there were the last time. This time it feels right.”

Creating that feeling was the stated aim of Steve Burke, the chief executive of NBC Universal, who took a lead role in the current change effort to insure that Mr. Leno would receive full respect for his contributions to the network.

“Clearly our goal has been to make this a smooth transition,” Mr. Burke said in a telephone interview. “Jay deserves to be treated like someone who has done a wonderful thing for our company for two decades.”

RIP Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, only the good die young. The Roots and the entire Late Night staff better go to Tonight.

While the network has yet to complete a deal, it has made a commitment to Jimmy Fallon, the current host of its “Late Night” program, to have him succeed Jay Leno as the next host of “Tonight,’’ according to several senior television executives involved in the decision. The show would move from Burbank, Calif., back to New York, where it first started in 1954 with Steve Allen as host.

Some details remain to be worked out, including an exact timetable for the switch, though it is expected to take place by the fall of 2014 at the latest, the executives said in interviews this week.

NBC has quietly begun work on a new studio in its headquarters building at 30 Rockefeller Plaza as the home for the new “Tonight” show. The studio is part of a general reconstruction of the building being undertaken by Comcast, which this week completed a full takeover of NBC Universal.

An NBC spokeswoman declined to comment on the move, other than to say the network was building a new state-of-the-art studio for Mr. Fallon.

If this turns out to not come to fruition, the last part there about a new state-of-the-art studio for Fallon is at least true and confirmed by the network.

RE: 2014. As much as I want to see Leno go and Fallon take over, it’s too soon for ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ to be over. That show is too damn fun to go away so quickly.

And even if Jimmy takes the job, they’re just going to fire him and bring back Leno after 7 months anyway.
