“Battlefield” by Jordin Sparks with Pentatonix
“Got my first Broadway injury tonight,” the singer wrote on Twitter that evening. “Hurt my hip in the first act. But I finished the show! Thank you so much to everyone who came tonight. Sorry I couldn’t sign. It’s hard to stand/walk. Hopefully the physical therapist can fix me!”
Jordin Sparks is the last American Idol vet to hit Broadway.
The 20-year-old singer is the new Nina Rosario (she falls in love with Benny, who works at Nina’s father Kevin’s dispatch). Jordin will play a limited 12-week engagement from August 19 through November 14.
“It’s always been one of my dreams to perform on Broadway,” Jordin told JustJared.com. “This is a brand new experience for me. I look so forward to spending time in New York City and joining this talented cast and my favorite new musical.”
Not the first time an Idol winner has appeared on Broadway, but probably the most successful one to do it.
