Ouch. It’s a real shame too because the album isn’t that bad (and probably better than a lot of the ones to come before it).
Lee and the Idol producers should have sent this version to radio. It’s a million times better and may actually convince you how Dewyze won season 9.
In January, recent American Idol winner Lee DeWyze released his second independent solo album. It’s called Slumberland and it’s fantastic.
If his major label debut is half as good as Slumberland, he and his audience will be very fortunate. If pressed for a genre I’d describe the album has alt country/adult alternative for fans of Jason Mraz or Marc Broussard (more so the latter.) Dewyze displays more soul and raw emotion on the album than he did over 20 weeks of Idol.
Any cut from this album would have made a better single release than “Beautiful Day.”
Not surprising really (as Idol winner and runner up automatically get signed) but interesting to see what co-label they’re on.
American Idol champ Lee DeWyze and runner-up Crystal Bowersox have both signed their recording contracts!
Lee, 24, is signed to 19 Recordings and RCA Records.
Crystal, also 24, is signed to 19 Recordings and Jive Records.
Lee joins fellow alums Chris Daughtry and Adam Lambert as labelmates, while Crystal joins Jordin Sparks, Kris Allen, and Allison Iraheta.
And Lee Dewyze is your new ‘American Idol.’
