Red Band Trailer: 'A Million Ways to Die in the West' - May 30th

Directed by Seth MacFarlane, written by MacFarlane, Alec Sulkin and Wellesly Wild, starring MacFarlane, Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson, Amanda Seyfried, Giovanni Ribisi, Neil Patrick Harris and Sarah Silverman

I was expecting this to be both raunchier and funnier, but at least Sarah Silverman delivers a big laugh. The tone in general is intriguing as MacFarlane is not doing anything to place himself in the period performance wise. Clearly this is homaging ‘Blazing Saddles,’ but it’s unclear how derivative of that it really is.

Red Band Trailer: ‘22 Jump Street' - June 13th

Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, starring Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, Ice Cube, Nick Offerman, Rob Riggle and Dave Franco.

'21 Jump Street' had little business being as funny and successful as it was, but I'm so glad to see these characters (and welcome returning faces) back in action. The meta joke of '22 Jump Street' is handled well and they're ascension to college, while predictable is fitting. The trailer lands a few jokes courtesy of Jonah Hill, so I'm looking forward to the comedy they can once again ring out of Channing Tatum.

Red Band Trailer: ‘Bad Words' - March 28th

Directed by Jason Bateman, written by Andrew Dodge, starring Bateman, Kathryn Hahn, Allison Janney, Ben Falcone and Rachael Harris.

Red Band Trailer: ‘That Awkward Moment' - Jan 31

Written and directed by Tom Gormican, starring Zac Efron, Miles Teller, Michael B Jordan, Imogen Poots and Addison Timlin.

Teller and Efron come off as charming and somewhat funny. But in general this looks like the most tired retread of bro comedy and romantic stereotypes. It’s like some limp big screen version of ‘New Girl’ and the final scene does nothing but remind me of an already lame joke from ‘Legally Blonde.’

This all feels like they had the title ‘That Awkward Moment’ and then had to write a movie for it.
