Breaking Arrested Development News of the Day: Arrested Development creator Mitchell Hurwitz, at the New Yorker Festival cast reunion, just announced plans to bring back the critically acclaimed TV series for one more season — ahead of a long-anticipated Arrested Development movie.

The New York Times’ Dave Itzkoff reports that the new season will be composed of 9-10 “where are they now” episodes, providing context for the film.

Fox will be bringing back the Christian Slater lead Breaking In at midseason for 13 episode run. The entire cast is set to return, including Odette Annable who will split duties with her series regular gig at House.

What are the odds that it will get canceled a third time? Well according to Dan Feinberg, “In its one airing w/out an “Idol” lead-in, “Breaking In” pulled in 3.2 million viewers and a 1.4 key demo rating.”

Sources connected with Charlie Sheen tell TMZ … the actor is negotiating a “big offer” for a new TV series that could debut as early as January, 2012.

We’re told Charlie’s reps are in “deep negotiations” and the deal could be done by week’s end.

Our sources say the sitcom is being written specifically around Charlie and will air on a broadcast network. The deal does not call for a pilot. The show would go straight to series.

Our sources would not reveal details about the sitcom, except to say Chuck Lorre is NOT involved.
