End of an era.

Also, the end of Mallrats is going to make no sense now.

The Mouse House has bought the licensing rights from Fox and plans to build out an attraction for their parks. An official announcement is expected shortly.

The “Avatar” experience – plans call for more than a single ride – will be built at Animal Kingdom, the newest of the four major theme parks that make up Disney World in Orlando, Fla., according to these people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because Disney did not authorize them to speak publicly.

James Cameron, the director of that science-fiction film, will collaborate with Disney on the attraction.

Because.

the Imagineers over at WDI have been given the go-ahead to move further into blue sky development on an E-Ticket attraction themed to Tron for Disneyland. This isn’t a green light for the actual, finalized ride, just the opportunity to explore more extensive designs and concepts. Something tells me late 2012/early 2013 could see the beginning of that long talked about, but continually put off remake of Tomorrowland.”

I believe this replaced the Back To The Future ride at Universal Orlando.
