Watch: ’HIMYM's Final Robin Sparkles Music Video - 'P.S. I Love You' | EW

How many times can they go to this well?

Via text message from the BFF: “YOU CAN PLAY ‘LET’S GO TO THE MALL’ IN JUST DANCE 3!!!”

I am truly in complete awe of the universe sometimes. Yes, this is real.

How I Met Your Mother - Season 6 Episode 9 - Glitter
Originally aired November 15th, 2010
Old ex-friends. Often times we’ll look back and think fondly, “I really liked that person and we kind of just drifted apart.” For Ted and Punchy that was the case, and in some way that’s what happened with Robin and Jessica as well. HIMYM tried its best to address old friends and lost connections but in the end it didn’t resonate as it should. Instead we got a light, unsubstantial but entertaining episode. Just as the sitcom was intended.
The writers keenly kicked off chapter three of the Robin Sparks saga without any of the pussyfooting that had befallen this long lasting arc in the past. Instead of putting it off the whole episode and revealing in the final moments we immediately gte to see the children’s show. (I could have sworn it was a variety show). This then gives us the running gag that it’s dirty which was hit or miss (hitting mostly on them thinking it’s porn and Barney almost taking his slap against Marshall… and the song at the end). Entertaining enough but fluffy.
The resonant moments of the episode came from Ted’s delusion with Punchy and Robin and Lilly breaking up over baby stuff and Jessica. It was nice actually seeing Punchy and having him introduced as a character, though he seemed very one dimensional at first. Thankfully he’s revealed to have a wife and to be actually taking pity on Ted (nice move). And Ted’s going to be his best man which leads us to assume the wedding in the season premiere is Punchy’s.
Jessica Glitter on the other hand was a disaster. Nicole Scherzinger was flat as the ice in MSG. Scherzinger’s a great singer and had a good acting reputation from her Rent performance but there was nothing here. And are we really supposed to believe that her and Robin would never have run into each other at the HOSER HUT?
The episode had a lot of nice throwbacks besides those listed above (Marshall’s MC Hammer pants for one) and NPH though not at the forefront got some silly moments (reality show goodbye quotes). In the end, it just felt a little too sitcom-y and not as serial and substantial as a typical HIMYM episode.
Oh and shame on this episode for reminding me of a horrible Mariah Carey movie.

How I Met Your Mother is about to fill in a major piece of Robin Sparkles’ pop-star backstory. Sources confirm to me exclusively that Pussycat Doll-turned-Dancing With the Stars champ Nicole Scherzinger has been tapped to play Jessica Glitter, Robin’s former BFF and costar of the Canadian talk show that also featured Alan Thicke.
