Comedy Central has just announced that they’re teaming up with Weird Al to premiere the parody artist’s first televised concert special in over a decade. Not since ‘99, has such an event taken place.

Weird Al Yankovic Live - The Alpocalypse Tour will debut Saturday, Oct 1 at 9 pm with a DVD, Blu-ray and digital release on the follow Tuesday (Oct 4).

There’s no doubt about it, Al is having a renaissance and deserves every second of it. If it wasn’t too early I’d say set your DVRs.

Weird Al’s new album Alpocalypse is set to debut at #9 on the Billboard charts, the highest ever for the parody artist. Al’s been putting out albums since ‘83 and has sold over 12 million total.

Between this and The Lonely Island’s success on the charts, it’s safe to say we’re living a comedy music revival.

Not only does he parody Lady Gaga’s songs but her business model as well.
