After being “stalked” by a Today show crew, Alec Baldwin tweets he’s leaving NBC?
Few things to consider before freaking out. One, this may be a joke. Two, Bob Greenblatt said at press tour in January that they quietly re-upped Baldwin for season 7 of 30 Rock. Three, he may be referring to after season 7?
How About That of the Day: So apparently this has been going on for a while: An eagle-eyed Consumerist reader spotted an ad for the upcoming Kevin James vehicle Zookeeper superimposed into the background of a How I Met Your Mother rerun.
The original background of the 2007 episode was strikingly different.
Today: Digitally altering backgrounds in sitcoms. Tomorrow: Digitally altering foregrounds in historical footage?
Kevin James is the Mother!!!
Hear Katherine McPhee and Megan Hlity sing an original song from NBC’s upcoming musical pilot Smash.
The drama, the laughter
The tears just like pearls
Well they’re all in this girl’s repertoire
It’s all for the taking
And it’s magic we’ll be making
Let me be your star
Watched ‘Smash’ last week and I still have this song in my head. Going to be good, y’all.
Hmm. It’s vaguely Alan Menkenish and thoroughly Broadway (notice how it fits neatly into the “I Wish” format).
I’m particularly interested to see how they’ll deliver on this level of original music each week.
I remember when I was really interested in comedy and I was in high school, Alan Thicke had a talk show, and they had all these posters up everywhere like, ‘He’s coming, it’s gonna be better than Johnny Carson’ … and I watched his first show, and it was like, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, here he comes, Alan Thicke,’ and the doors opened, and he came running out, and the band’s rocking out, and he runs down to the band and he picks up a guitar and he starts rocking out with the band, and I was sitting there and I was 14 and I’m like, ‘You’re an ass.’ Click. I always knew that as a lesson, that [guitar playing] is my hobby, and I don’t like it when celebrities inflict their hobby [on the audience] … It’s one of those things that I’m very careful not to do.

Hmmm. Truth is he’s a different person than he was then, and has now become somewhat of a “figure” so it’s more passable to pick up the guitar and rock out. And there’s a difference between Alan Thicke on show one and Conan after 17 years of talk show hosting.
