Roger Ebert will be launching a revamped version of his television show At the Movies on January 21st and he has just revealed that AP critic Christy Lemire and Mubi.com contributor Ignatiy Vishnevetsky will co-host the show. He also revealed a number of other contributors and special segments that will be featured. Lemire isn’t so much of a surprise, as she’s a well-known, veteran critic for AP who has also appeared on Good Morning America, The Charlie Rose Show and even At the Movies.
Ebert also revealed that the show will feature contributions from The Hitlist’s Kim Morgan, The Popcorn Reel’s Omar Moore, Mirrorfilm’s Katrina Richardson,CBS news analyst Jeff Greenfield, Beliefnet’s Nell Minow and Movie City News’ David Poland. The show will also include a new segment about video-on-demand called “Hot N Now,” which was naturally named after a burger joint in rural Indiana.
First up on Dec. 4: host Robert De Niro and musical guest Diddy-Dirty Money (made up of Sean “Diddy” Combs, Kalenna Harper and Dawn Richard).
On Dec. 11: host Paul Rudd and musical guest Paul McCartney.
On Dec. 18: host Jeff Bridges and musical guest Eminem. [Orlando Sentinel]
April 10: Tina Fey with Justin Bieber
April 17: Ryan Phillippe with Ke$ha
April 24: Gabourey Sidibe with MGMT
Fey always kills when she hosts, Phillippe I’m skeptical but this is definitely for promotion of the MacGruber movie, yet I’m super psyched to see Gabby do her thing!
Don’t forget Betty White May 8th!
That’s what sources just told me. It’s all very hush-hush in case the show’s producers decide not to do it. (This way the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences doesn’t get embarrassed. Gee, you mean 2 middle-aged white guys — Steve Martin & Alec Baldwin — aren’t going to cut it? How much you wanna bet it’s someone younger and/or female and/or ethnically/racially diverse? Who should it be?”
My guesses are Tina Fey, Tracy Morgan, or Meryl Streep. The Oscars would be wise not to add another host though, remember when the Emmys had five? Yeah, that didn’t end so well.
Jane Lynch FTW
and Nathan Fillion, Jim Parsons, Kristen Chenoweth, Joel McHale, Robert Downey Jr., Kathy Griffin, Stephen Colbert, Lauren Graham, Ricky Gervais, Craig Ferguson, Johnny Depp, Adam Lambert, Kristin Bell, Ed Helms, Kelly Clarkson, John Cho, Meryl Streep, John Slattery, Alyson Hannigan.
Someone forward this list to Lorne Michaels and Marci Klein asap - minus Kathy Griffin and the Idol alums. I’m surprised some of these people haven’t hosted already (Depp, RDJ, Streep.)
