An extra on the New York City set of “The Dark Knight Rises” died during a rehearsal last month, Warner Bros and the Screen Actors’ Guild confirms.
The New York Post reports that in November, an unidentified male suffered a heart attack after wandering away from the Wall Street set, and was found some time later. He was rushed to a hospital, but was unable to be revived.
For a relatively young career, Adam Scott has been in a lot of television and film. Wisely, Vulture sat him down and had him dish on thirteen of the “funniest, oddest, most awkward, or enlightening moments” on set.
Here’s his tale from Boy Meets World.
For three episodes, Scott played smart-ass bully Griff Hawkins on the TGIF staple.
"When that was on TV, it was on Friday nights at eight o’clock or whatever, and it was for little kids, so, careerwise, it might as well have been projected on the side of a building in the elementary-school playground or something. It didn’t have any significance.
I always checked the [online] message boards, which were still this kind of mysterious thing – and I remember reading someone posting that they were friends with the girl that played Topanga, and Topanga had told this person that no one at the show liked me very much. And I remember just being crushed, but it also all kind of made sense, because I was definitely on the outside of whatever was going on there. They were all friends and I was just kind of there and would hang out with Blake [Soper, future Rilo Kiley guitarist] and Ethan Suplee. I didn’t know if it was real or not, but kind of felt like it was … The Internet or these message-board things were still kind of small enough that it felt genuine. And sure enough, the next episode they wrote me off.”
Because this show. And Natalie Zea’s open back top.
I’m beginning to see a common thread here.
Not The King’s Speech: A XXX Parody from Hustler.
Central Perk still exists in the prop house. My brother does tours there.
I can’t decide whether that’s amazing or sad and pathetic.
On Marc Maron’s WTF podcast, Rob Corddry shared that the abandoned hospital in which they shoot ‘Childrens Hospital’ that was also the home to ‘Scrubs’ for ten years will be demolished after the Adult Swim show is done shooting.
This is super upsetting to me. More so than the Scrubs season 8 finale. It’s fun, let alone comforting, to think that beloved shows and characters still exist somewhere in the ether after the show finishes its run, living out their lives. One of the wonderful things about the medium of television, is its penchant for ongoing, seemingly never ending stories - that could go on forever. But with news that the physical building is being torn down it kills the fantasy.
On a related note, as of 2005 when I bore witness, the complete Central Perk set from Friends still existed in its original layout. Housed in a Warner Bros prop warehouse shown on lot tours. Not sure if the coffee house is still standing but if anyone out there has taken the tour recently I’d be interested to know.
