Meanwhile they’ve picked up Pan Am (More 60s!), Good Christian, and Apt. 23 (via EW).
And officially cancels Scrubs, Better Off Ted, and Romantically Challenged.
Wow. Bloodbath over at the Alphabet Net. Like Chuck, V has been given a 13 ep order.
| — | Anna, V. Turns out they’re exactly like Vulcans. |
See it wasn’t just me. It was bothersome, but at least nothing happened in the episode.
“To the ABC exec who decided to put the V countdown clock on the bottom of the Lost screen… I hate you. Passionately,” Tweeted one ESPN columnist. The bug also earned a rant from Star-Ledger’s Alan Sepinwall (“it was ridiculous: between the large red “V” logo, and the ticking clock, it was impossible to not notice it, virtually ever moment it was on screen”).
“Yes, people, I saw it too,” Tweeted Damon Lindelof. “:34 minutes until I cry myself to sleep.”

I agree, they’re similar to Vulcans in the fact that they’re semi-cold/emotionless. If you were wondering, the V are reptiles in fake human bodies. So that might have something to do with the coldness. Personally I think on a metaphorical level, the show is too Cold War for modern TV. It feels dated, and mostly because they stayed too close to the original miniseries. That might be another reason you’re comparing them to Vulcans, it’s an old sci fi trope that relies heavily on Cold War allegory.
Seriously, it was painful and severely detracted from the episode. Come on ABC, I know you desperately need people to watch V but knock it off!
Also, apparently it could have caused some permanent damage (in the form of burn ins) to TV sets.
My answer is no they can’t. A show such as Lost or any of the ones on HBO can handle breaks like this because they’re “event TV.” The quality draws people in. Unfortunately, due to the mediocrity of V and Flashforward, ABC is going to see a hemorrhaging viewers during the break. On the contrary, I think Glee falls into the former category.
“V” advertising. England. “God save the Queen”.

Maybe it was due to low expectations but I thought V put forth a superb effort with their pilot. The show is visually compelling and well written. While the concept is less original than Flashforward, the quality is definitely better.
Together they’d make the perfect show.
I’m guessing the meeting for V’s marketing strategy went something like this: “Let’s put a sticker sheet in this week’s Entertainment Weekly! That way everyone can spread the word themselves.”
“Oh yeah thats a great idea, now we’ll definitely be able to reach that Elementary school girl demographic we’ve been desiring so badly!”
“Huzzah!”
COUNTDOWN TO FALL SEASON
V (abc) November 2009
V looks so sick. Similar to District 9 in its portrayal of the sociological impacts aliens could have on modern society. Doesn’t go to air until January 2010 though. At that time ABC will have 3 high concept drams running (V, Lost, Flashforward.)
